Why We Built This Site
Newport News has no separate municipal court, and no single public portal answers every warrant question. NNPD publishes a dated active-warrant table, but it omits case number, court, bond, and later status history. OCIS can help locate a General District, JDR, or Circuit Court case; it is not a statewide warrant database. The issuing clerk handles court-file questions, NNPD's Fugitive Apprehension Unit handles police-listed warrant questions, and the Sheriff handles jail and surrender information. Putting those separate roles side by side helps a reader choose a useful first call without treating a partial search result as clearance.
What You Will Find Here
- Warrant lookup: how to search OCIS by party name, case number, or hearing date, and why a court case search is not warrant confirmation
- Police publication: how the Active Outstanding Warrants page uses last-name initials and which identifying fields appear in the table
- Missed court dates: how bench warrants and capias process relate to the court controlling the case
- Arrest and traffic procedure: how arrest warrants and traffic-related court process move through Virginia law and local offices
- City court routing: where Newport News General District, JDR, and Circuit Court matters belong, including the fact there is no separate municipal court
- Most-wanted tips: how the Crime Line and P3 Tips differ from the dated active-warrant table
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site. We are not part of Virginia courts, Newport News police, the Sheriff's Office, or another public agency. There are real limits to what this site can do:
- We cannot run an official warrant check or confirm whether a warrant exists for anyone
- We cannot remove, recall, quash, or clear a warrant on any system
- We cannot post bond or accept any kind of payment toward a warrant
- We cannot arrange a surrender, a court date, or a warrant walk-through
- We cannot give legal advice or tell you how a specific warrant applies to you
- We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee, or warrant listing on this site is current right now
Only the issuing court or the responsible law-enforcement office can confirm current status or court action. For a police-listed Newport News matter, contact NNPD; for case history, contact the clerk for the court shown in the file.
Third-Party Search Boxes
Search boxes on this site are operated by third parties. Their providers set their own terms, pricing, and data practices. A result from an outside search tool is not a Newport News court record or an official warrant-status confirmation. Review the provider's terms before entering personal information, and contact the court or agency directly when an answer affects a next step.
